Perception Changes Your Reality in Life

Updated: May 25, 2023

Journey of life is sometimes full of unexpected. 2 months ago lived with your parents, come back as son of a family then right now in the moment live with relatives. What I feel the way my perception changes seeing life. it happened when I start to see my trauma as an understanding of society. Before it seems a curse to me that pain in the past will always hunt me down. But, realizing it as an opportunities to explore life experience life in a certain region, now I see it as a diamond.

I feel my life is full of richness such as the way I see the sky is never seen before as beautiful, amazing, and profound. Also when I walk around the house, usually I only focus on problems that the surrounding house has. But now seeing the tree, flowers, architecture, and ext. It always pops up in my mind about

"Oh, ya this 21-century architecture in Banda Aceh after the tsunami and this is how modern Acehnese do creativity in the era of globalization which changes the perspectives of Aceh people from close to open".

Yes, that happened to me every day.

Furthermore, when I pray in mosque observing the activities people did is always fascinates me. How different cultures expressed themself in religious practice. I also the way that Islam influences people to behave, believe, and reality is profound me to think that Islam itself is so much rich in culture. The popular opinion about Islam is a religion of antithesis to modernity is not true. I believe there are some people that always see religion as a dividing force. But every culture has that kind of people. In the end richness of Islam in Aceh prompt me to think about how this religion came to Aceh and how our ancestors converted to new religion and put it as part of their identity.

There is some misunderstanding about Islam in Aceh. Acehnsese itself sees Islam as an identity. But sometimes some people forget that Islam itself has to be practiced in life, not only as identity. Usually, people when think it belongs to them, they forget that also needs to be nurtured and deepening in understanding. My journey as muslim see Islam as a peaceful force that always encourages me to think of myself as an individual. But also reflects me relate to environment and universe. It gives me a profound see life as a beauty in the diversity of knowledge and things.

Moreover, I am deeply interested in how Islam sees justice. Islam you only have a high rank if you have much good deeds for others regardless of education, material, seniority, gender, and status of life. If Muslim society keeps promoting these best value, we can create a better society where everyone lives with fullest of their expression in life because you are not afraid about status in life but you believe in the driving force of doing good that others must upload.
